Shreve Memorial Libraries voter registration activities

The Caddo Parish Registrar of Voters office will conduct voter registration activities at Shreve Memorial libraries throughout the parish during the month of August. You can register to vote, change your address, party or name at the locations listed on the schedule. Please take your i.d. showing a Caddo Parish address.

LAST DAY TO REGISTER TO VOTE FOR THE APRIL 6TH ELECTION IS WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6TH

Wednesday, March 6th is the last day to register to vote for the April 6th election for the City of Shreveport’s tax continuation proposals. Voters must have their applications postmarked or submitted by that date in order to be processed by the Caddo Parish Registrar of Voters office.

” Only voters inside Shreveport will be eligible to vote in the April 6th election so, anyone who has moved in the last year needs to check their address information at caddovoter.org. Voters can register to vote online or make changes to their record,” said Ernie Roberson, Registrar of Voters.

Currently there are 129,173 voters eligible to vote in Shreveport according to the latest figures from the Caddo Registrar of Voters office. Of that number African-American voters total 52% or 67,218 voters and white voters stand at 56,683 voters or 43.9%. Other race voters account for 5,272 voters about 4.1% of the total voters in Shreveport.

PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION EARLY VOTING STARTS OCT. 23rd

Early voting starts in Louisiana on Tuesday, October 23 and extends through Tuesday, October 30, closed on Sunday, October 28. The hours each day are 8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. In Caddo parish early voting will be conducted at the Registrar of Voters office, 525 Marshall , Suite 103 in downtown Shreveport across from the east side of the courthouse. Voters in other parishes should contact their parish Registrar of Voters for information. Voters must go to the parish of their registration to vote.

Voters should bring identification with them such as a driver’s license, special Louisiana i.d. , governmental i.d., etc. Voters should expect to wait an hour or more for early voting. The three minute time limit for voting which is a state law will be enforced in early voting. Copies of the amendments will be furnished to voters in the early voting line to help speed up voting. Voters who will need assistance in voting must furnish a doctor’s letter stating that need and bring it with them to the polls or have furnished it to the Registrar’s office previously.

All voters in Caddo Parish will be eligible to vote for President, Congress, nine constitutional amendments, and the school board term limit proposition. Some voters will also vote on the Court of Appeals Judgeship contest as it is a subdistrict election.

Voters can find out what will be on their ballot by using the Registrar’s website.

Other elections will be held in some of Caddo’s smaller municipalities.
